Keyboard shortcuts to make life easier. They must be used from the Finder, not from an application.
Create a new folder
Command-N
 
Open a File or Folder
Command-0 (zero), or Command-Down Arrow.
 
Open a highlighted icon
Command-O (letter) or Command-Down Arrow
 
Select the next alphabetical icon
Tab
 
Select the previous alphabetical icon
Shift-Tab
 
Select an icon to the left
Left Arrow (in icon view only)
 
Select an icon to the right
Right Arrow (In icon view only)
 
Select an icon above
Up Arrow
 
Select an icon below
Down Arrow
 
Duplicate a selected item
Command-D
 
Rebuild Floppy Disk Desktop
Command-Option + Insert floppy
 
Open parent window
Option-Up Arrow
 
Closing an Active Window
Command-W keys.
 
Close all open windows:
- Option key + Close from the File menu
- Option key + clicking any window's close box
- Command-Option-W keys.
 
Move Inactive Window
Command key + dragging window's title bar
 
Erase Floppy Disk
Command-Option-Tab keys + inserting disk Get Info - Command-i.
 
"About This Macintosh"
Change the menu from "About this Macintosh" to "About the Finder" by holding the Option key while selecting "About This Macintosh" under the Apple menu.
